What We Do
Open Book Speech Therapy provides a mobile, evidence-based speech pathology service for school-aged children across the Gold Coast. Our key focus areas include literacy, language, speech sounds, and stuttering.
Who We Are
Lucy is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist with over 12 years of experience working with children and adults to support communication and learning in meaningful, everyday contexts.
Sarah is a Speech Therapy Assistant, certified in the Sounds-Write literacy program, with more than 10 years of experience supporting school-aged children in developing their literacy and language skills.
Where We Work
We offer therapy in a range of convenient settings — including schools, early learning centres, homes, and via telehealth/online — to best meet each child’s needs and routine.
Why We Do It
We’re passionate about helping every individual build the skills and confidence to communicate independently. Our approach is family-centred, ensuring parents and carers feel informed, supported, and empowered every step of the way.

Speech PathologistLucy is a Speech Pathologist with over 12 years of experience supporting children and adults with communication and swallowing difficulties. Her passion lies in advocating for those who cannot always advocate for themselves, and in helping individuals and families achieve meaningful, functional outcomes.
Lucy’s approach is personalised and evidence-based. She takes time to incorporate children’s interests into therapy, set goals that matter in everyday life, and focus on empowering families with strategies they can use beyond the therapy room. Lucy believes in transparency and informed decision making — values that inspired the name Open Book Speech Therapy.
As a mother of three children who have needed support with speech and fluency, Lucy understands the realities of parenting and the challenge of making time for therapy. She values practical approaches that fit naturally into family routines.
Literacy is another core focus of her practice. Lucy believes that confident readers and writers are set up for confidence in the classroom and beyond.
Across her career, Lucy has worked in hospitals, schools, with children and adults with disabilities and as a student supervisor for future Speech Pathologists. She was the NSW Speech Pathology State Manager at ORS, a National allied health provider.
Lucy’s work draws on a range of respected, evidence-based training programs, including:
Sounds-Write
Hanen Programs (It Takes Two to Talk and More Than Words)
The Lidcombe Program for Early Stuttering Intervention
Key Word Sign
PODD (Pragmatically Organised Dynamic Display)
Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding
Lucy holds a Master of Speech Pathology (Griffith University, 2013) and a Bachelor of Science, Psychology (Bond University, 2011), which together provide a strong foundation in communication, learning, and child development.
At the heart of Lucy’s practice is a commitment to helping every individual build the skills and confidence to communicate independently, while ensuring families feel informed, supported, and empowered every step of the way.

Speech Therapy Assistant
With over three years of specialised experience in the evidence-based Sounds-Write program, Sarah provides individualised literacy intervention designed to meet your child’s unique learning needs. Whether your child is just beginning their reading journey or needs focused support to strengthen specific skills, my engaging lessons build confidence, fluency, and a lifelong love of reading. In addition, Sarah brings 13 years of experience supporting neurodiverse learners, creating meaningful adjustments that help every student reach their full potential.
Sarah works under the guidance and supervision of Lucy, our Certified Practising Speech Pathologist. Sarah implements therapy activities that align with your child’s therapy plan. Lucy maintains responsibility for assessment, goal setting, program development, and ongoing supervision. This model allows clients to access high quality and cost-effective therapy.
As Sarah is certified in the Sounds-Write literacy program, families accessing literacy intervention privately (outside of NDIS funding) can work directly with her. Lucy’s input or supervision can be included based on the family’s preference.
